Shop Policies
Thank you for choosing FJA Mods. Please read before sending work.
Sending In Work
All work must be approved before shipping. A tracking number must be provided once your item ships. Payment must be made up front via PayPal or credit card over the phone before I receive the item and work begins.
Any work not paid in advance or shipped without prior FJA approval will be denied delivery and returned at your expense. Do not just ship an amp without making arrangements.
Minimum Bench Fee
$150 ($200 for amps shipped in for service). Extensive diagnosis (circuit tracing, scoping, heavy disassembly) may require an additional $45.
Estimates
Estimates are good for 30 days. Repairs over $150 require approval before work begins — provide a daytime phone number or email for estimates. If I cannot reach you within one week, the repair will be re-assembled and returned as a refused estimate with the minimum bench fee charged. I don't have space to store amps — things must keep moving.
Amps Sent Directly to Me
If damage occurs in transit, the claim is entirely between you and the shipper/seller. I will photograph, inspect, test, diagnose, write an estimate, and re-pack — typically 1–2 hours including calls and documentation. I must be paid for that time.
Pricing & Payment
Prices may change at any time — ask if in doubt. Mod and custom work: payment in advance. Repairs: payment within 5 business days of estimate, before work or special-order parts. PayPal, credit card by phone, in person, or cash. PayPal shipments return to the confirmed address only.
No refunds on mod work payments. Damaged amps or jobs beyond what you want to invest receive shop credit, not a refund. No refunds on custom orders or designs.
Storage & Unclaimed Work
$10/day storage after one week of completion notice (unless prior written arrangement). After 30 days, items may be sold to cover costs.
No Problem Found
A $150 ($200 shipped) bench fee applies when gear is found working properly. Rule out cords, instruments, and pedals first. Describe the problem clearly:
- What type of noise? When does it happen? How often?
- How long must the amp be on?
- Does it happen with other guitars and speakers?
Turnaround Time
Amp work happens when I have time — usually weekends. Emails may not be answered quickly during the week. Repairs: first come, first served — typically 2–4 weeks. Mods: 2–4 months. Extensive work: 4–6+ months. Custom builds vary. Parts availability affects timing.
These are estimates, not guarantees. I contact you when the amp arrives (confirming no damage) and when it ships. I don't make routine "how's it going" updates — that time comes off the bench. Please give me space to finish your amp right.
Rush Service
No rush service. First come, first served. If you want it right, it takes time.
Warranty
Repairs: 90 days from pickup/delivery. Mods: 1 year. Tubes/parts carry manufacturer warranty. Shipping for warranty work is your responsibility (may be refunded first 30 days at FJA discretion). All warranty work must be done in my shop — work elsewhere voids warranty.
Mod tone tweaking: One free return for tone tweaking; shipping both ways is yours.
Shipping & Repacking
$20 repack fee for materials and time. Improper incoming packing: $40 repack. Return ship via UPS Ground with signature required. Old output transformers returned separately: $30 (can't ship in the same box as the amp).
See Packing instructions for how to pack safely.
